In Reply to: AT&T? If I had a bomb, I'd use it .... posted by Christine Baker on December 12, 1998 at 14:28:10:

I sent AT&T a copy of the above posting. I say one thing, at least they respond immediately. Unfortunately, the response was just more bla bla bla ...

The worlds best kept secret: AT&T sales reps' E-mail.

Apparently I have to tell them WHAT I want to buy. Thing is, I have no clue. Which is WHY I requested assistance, and that is apparently something NOT available at AT&T.

All I know is what I want to accomplish: phone and data services in remote areas in the Western US, if at all possible to my notebook. If that can't be done, maybe their pocket service would be an alternative?

I was hoping somebody at AT&T could tell me which services would best suit my needs and how much it would cost for the equipment and the services.

The AT&T person who can't figure out what an e-mail addy is supposedly is the AT&T WEBMASTER, as that's who I addressed my original mail to (due to the lack of any E-mail addy on their site.)

He or she thinks I'm looking for something on their on-line catalog!!!!! And then gives me ANOTHER URL!

I wished they'd stop the drug tests and instead started requiring a minimum IQ. How about a reading and comprehension test?

It also annoys me tremendously when corporate employees don't give their names and titles. Why is that?

So here is the webmaster's entire reply and of course I'll cc him/her a copy of this posting. It's sad, real sad!

AT&T? If I had a bomb, I'd use it ....

Name: Christine Baker

Subject: AT&T? If I had a bomb, I'd use it ....
Body of Message:

Below is my correspondence with AT&T. I think it's obvious that I'm totally frustrated. Apparently they only utilize forms to get your phone number and give out info only on the phone.

As my readers know, I DON'T do business on the phone as I'm usually being lied to and later lack proof of the lies. Common sense implies that someone who refuses to put their sales pitch in writing INTENDS to misrepresent their products and services.

And here is what I have to say to AT&T:

Re: desperately trying to spend my money .... (ID # 277863-LOJ)

Dear AT&T person with no name:

Do you read English? I assume so. Why didn't you send me the e-mail of a sales person as I requested?
Too much work? It's not your job? or what???????

I went to the URL you sent me at

http://www.catalog.att.com/cmd/custcare

I didn't find any E-mail there either. Just another idiotic form that doesn't give me a copy of what I sent.
Do you know what E-mail is? It's NOT a form!!!!!

As I apparently HAVE to use this annoying form, I did. And because I like to know what I mailed, I copied it in my E-MAIL before sending. Here it is:

"please send me your E-mail address so we can discuss my needs and your solutions.

Thank you

Christine Baker"

hmm, just noticed, the form didn't go through. There is this message:

"I'm sorry, you didn't fill out all the items in the form correctly.

Please enter valid information for the following:

Please supply your area code.
Please supply your phone prefix number.
Please supply your phone line number."

hmmmm, why do you need my phone number? Is there anyone with a brain at AT&T? Can AT&T accept the reality that some people don't have a phone and contact AT&T because they want to give
money to AT&T FOR phone service? I guess not ....

Mr or Ms Nameless AT&T employee, if there is anything you have to say, please follow up to this posting at http://www.bayhouse.com/forums/communications/index.html
