Dear Sir or Madam:

Couldn't help noticing your post.

Why would you want to apply for a card with a different address? Under MOST circumstances, you can legitimately only have 1 address at a time.

There are those who send other peoples credit card applications, which have been stolen, to secondary addresses, which has become a serious problem. I don't want to make accusations, but the fact that you posted anonymously speaks to me.

You mentioned a Best Buy card and 10% off - I would THINK they would have required you to use the new card to buy the items in question which you purchased at that time. If they did, and you haven't contacted them about the bill, your credit probably has been affected.

If not, and you paid for the Best Buy items that day by some other means, then you still have a problem, because if you never receive a card, somebody else may have. With your name on it. You should cancel any account for which you cannot account for the card that can charge items to it.

No, address changes in and of themselves don't affect credit scores, but they could be used to question your living history with repect to home financing, since a 2 year history of where you live is required. Say you are living at A, and now you claim to live at B. The B address goes on your report. Now you want to get a loan - naturally, the investor wants to know about B. IF you never really lived there, this could cause a problem (though you could say it was an erroneous address post and probably get away with it).
