I recently got this offer for Earthquake Coverage:
(A) Amount of Dwelling Coverage: $261,800
(B) Applicable Deductible: $39,270
(C) Contents Coverage: $5,000
(D) Additional Living Expenses: $1,500
(E) Rate or Premium: $ 1,492
Well, this ain't exactly a great deal. At least not for me. Home Savings can have my place, if all else fails. I would hope for a good fire.
Although, there's always the possibility that my "Fire" insurance doesn't cover fires after an earthquake. I just got my annual renewal, along with about 70 pages of exclusions. Who actually READS all that? And what's the point of reading it?
I canceled my Earthquake coverage years ago, while the premium was only around $400 and the deductible was "only" 10%. If I owned my house free and clear, I'd shop around.
Did anyone receive a more realistic quote? Comments?
