3/1/2001: My web logs show that thousands of searches for "First National Bank" and variations resulted in this page being found. I'd really like to know what you're looking for! Please post at the NEW BayHouse Forum.

I've just been duped by a credit card company: "First National
Credit Card," a division of First national Bank in Pierre, SD.
I responded to an offer for a "pre-approved" card. When the card
came, I discovered that I was only approved for $250 credit. My
credit rating is not perfect, but it is not horrendous--probably
a B or B-. Within days of receiving the card I was horrified to
receive a bill indicating a $119 "acceptance fee." In addition,
they charged me a $50 annual fee and another $6 fee. So I end
up with a $175 charge for spending the $75 that's left on my
meager balance. Not to mention the 21% interest rate. Of course
it isn't worth it, so I demanded that the company close the
account before I used the card. Yes, I should have read the
disclosure statement more carefully, but I did review it, so it
must have been VERY small print--well hidden, I insist. I'd like
other consumers to be advised of what First National is doing.
Since they did indeed put the information in their disclosure
statement--somewhere, I suppose--their tactics are not illegal.
Just unethical and opportunistic, so others should be forewarned.
