I have been aware of the pitfalls of credit errors for several years now. Your site is truly a godsend for many people who are encountering these difficulties for the first time. I had several errors on my credit report when I went to get my first mortgage, and it took me about 6 months, and a lot of agony before everything was finally resolved. I was so mad, I wanted to sue the reporting agencies for lost wages as a result of all the time I spent trying to correct THEIR mistakes, not mine. Then, an idea dawned upon me. I worked on Capitol Hill for several years and was successful in passing some immigration reform laws through a public interest organization. So, I formed my own organization "Americans for Credit Reform." I'm just trying to collect names of interested individuals who would support legislation to outlaw credit reporting until it is cleared with the consumer. My proposed law would make it illegal to put something on your credit report until the consumer has been contacted and given ample time to respond (i.e. 30-60 days). If there is a dispute, it can't be put on the report until the dispute is resolved. If it is erroneous information, and the consumer can prove it, it doesn't go on your report. If anyone is interested, please sign up on my listbot at my website at www.apci.net/~sstrayer/creditreform.html
