In January 1994 I lost my job at an advertising agency due to a cut back. six months earlier I had purchased and financed a program car from Toyota through Toyota Motor Credit.
The following 9 months were rough. In short order a could not make the payments and my family attorney suggested that I let them voluntarily repossess it.
So I drove it to the dealer to return it.
I simply could not find a job here after nine months so I took a job in Seoul, Korea. After two years I came back after getting sick only to end up wash golf carts for six months. For the last 2 1/2 years I have been employed, met a nice lady, married and try to buy a small condo...but was denied due to the major derogatory from Toyota. They have a balance owing of around $13,500.
The big question is how to approach this?
I think I need an attorney or paralegal who has experience in negotiating a settlement. Or, will they let me resume payments.
Either way the mortgage company said they needed something on paper from Toyota. Who knows, perhaps I should challenge it with the credit bureaus.
Any recommendations, questions or thoughts? I will pay cash in advance for your services.
