This sounds like something that equifax would do. I have just gone through collection with an agency because of a bad debt that I had with Ford Motor Credit Co. The collection agency MUST have your permission before drafting any funds out of your account no matter what. They cannot under the rules of the banking system, withdraw funds without your consent. I am not a lawyer, but I did have a similar experiance. Hope this helps.
