We took a website in India, from BICNET, with our own domain
name
http://www.selpages.com

Ours is a company which pioneered the Yellow Pages in India. Bicnet had
approached us with an ulterior motive. Mr. Nikhil Thakkar, CEO of
BICNET told us "You pay for Domain name and for pages of your
advertisers, who want individual sites." We were to supply the data
which was to be converted to HTML format through a programme made by
him.

He had requested AND WE HAD AGREED that BICNET will be given a
link from the main page of www.selpages.com. In our database we shall
not give website addresses of any other Internet service company. AND
WE DID ALL THIS.

After 2-3 of months, we found BICNET taking weeks to make any changes
in our site, simple Homepages ( for which we were being charged) were
talking 4-8 weeks to be hosted, simultaneously Mr. Nikhil Thakkar, CEO
of BICNET starting a line "We are not getting enough enquiries thru
your site and we shall have to charge you". He said
"www.selpages.com has taken up 100Mb space, for this you will have
to pay 1200$ (Rs 50,000) ".

WE DISCOVERED www.selpages.com occuped only 17 Mb and the rate
per Mb of the server on which our site had been hosted
(www.pair.com) was $8.95 per month or $107 per year for 20 Mb. AND
HE WAS DEMANDING $1200 FOR 17Mb.

From October 3 to October 23 we requested Mr. Thakkar for a
personal meeting, to sort out the matter across the table amicably but
he declined to meet.

SHOCKING DISCOVERY we made was that, though we had been charged for
the Domain name, BICNET had got it registered in such way that
BICNET had 100% control of www.selpages.com AND THIS THEY HAD DONE
WITH ALL THEIR CLIENTS. On 24 th October we informed all his clients
of HOW we have all been deceived.

BICNET immediately put a defamatory notice on OUR site www.selpages.com
giving ample proof that they had100% control of our site. The defamatory
notice remains visible even to-day (October 28,1998). We have made a
compaint to http://rs.internic.net and http://www.pair.com but THE JOKERS
ARE SLEEPING FOR THE PAST 5 DAYS.
They have not yet barred access to this defamatory message..

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REGISTER YOUR DOMAIN NAME OR YOU WILL SUFFER LIKE US.
