Subject: Net 1st M/C recommended by cardratings.org

Hi there Curtis,

I thought I'd wait and see if you would voluntary change your recommendation of the Net 1st MasterCard, but I guess you don't take a hint.

I'm sure you recall the fake.org mostly private e-mail discussion we had last year. And of course nothing changed. What was I thinking? Miracles or something?

I can see that Alex wants to make a buck, after all, he's a .com. What's your excuse? From your review:

This card boasts a 0% interest rate (more info. below) and "no credit checks" (charge offs are even overlooked)! It also boasts guaranteed approval for U.S. citizens residing in the U.S. that have a valid checking account. Another attractive feature is that the card reports to all three major credit bureaus!

Not for a billion bucks would I want your karma.

Well, my complaint with the FTC is here:

http://www.bayhouse.com/discus/messages/649/1080.html?980224487

And later tonight or tomorrow I'll post my formal complaint with the OCC.

I can't find any info on the ownership of this board. I thought it was creditcardfreedom.com, but now I got here from cardratings.org.

Are there a whole bunch of credit sites linked to this board? Is this just a shared advertising gig?

Sincerely,

Christine Baker

Curtis Arnold, CFCCT P.R. Director, http://www.cardratings.org responded:

"Thanks for your post! We will definitely take a look at your comments regarding this card in the near future (we typically review cards every six months). ..."

The board with no name, because it is really just a cost cutting revenue enhancing marketing partnership.

And I hate when people are so 500% fake. Curtis is thanking me for my post. Yeah right.

If Curtis DID appreciate my post, he would have taken those Net 1st banners down immediately and he would recommend to his readers that they NOT get that card.

Walk your talk, Curtis!

There's nothing more repulsive than this fake politeness. Those people give me the creeps.

Well, my next posting was deleted at the "boardserver" board. But apparently Curtis was reading here and today he informed me via E-mail of his posting at

http://boardserver.mycomputer.com/read.html?collapse=0&uid=539413&u=Fairterms&id=2341&thread=2275&f=1&u=Fairterms

... as of today, we have downgraded the card to a one-star rating, which is our poorest rating.

I'm not sure that it had to do with my OCC complaint, THIS excerpt from my FTC followup may have had more to do with the downgrading of Net 1st:

From your attachment:

"Advertising agencies or web site designers are responsible for reviewing the information used to substantiate ad claims. They may not simply rely on an advertiser's assurance that the claims are substantiated. In determining whether an ad agency should be held liable, the FTC looks at the extent of the agency's participation in the preparation of the challenged ad, and whether the agency knew or should have known that the ad included false or deceptive claims."

My attempts to get the owners of some of the Net 1st affiliate sites to voluntary remove the Net 1st banners failed. Curtis Arnold, founder of cardratings.org, claims to be a credit card expert and he KNOWINGLY continues to advertise and recommend the Net 1st MasterCard. Creditcardfreedom.com also still highly recommends the card. I can't even warn their readers because my "negative" postings are now being deleted."

Whatever the reason, it's nice to see that the cardratings.org review was changed, and I believe Curtis made a very smart move.

If I had the time, I would search for these Net 1st ads and inform EVERY affiliate how bad that card sucks and if they don't remove the ad, send a complaint to the FTC.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time.
