RA (Wilfire99) | Tuesday, June 27, 2000 - 09:37 am Now the question I have is , my husband and I are authorized users on our families account, me on my sister's 2 accounts and my husband on his mom's 2 accounts. Their (their)-(I could never spell this right!)accounts are excellent and want to know if we should remove our authorized status or leave it on our reports. I am sure the issuing banks will remove the entries upon our request, but is it better for us to leave them or will hurt us in the future?? Rosemarie |

Christine Baker (Admin) | Tuesday, June 27, 2000 - 03:09 pm According to Fair Isaac, "authorized users" ARE included in the Score just as if it was your own account. Fair Isaac decided to include the authorized user accounts because some department stores used to report joint account holders (spouses) as "authorized users." Obviously, this can be VERY beneficial to your Scores if you have FEW good accounts. Should the account holder pay late, you just dispute the reporting with the CRAs and they have to remove the account from your report as you are not liable for the account. It would be great to get some feedback on creditors who will add authorized users without the credit check and will also report those authorized users to the CRAs. Any leads? |
